I have been making digital Infrared images since 2003. I started out putting a Hoya r72 filter on a little canon G3, was encouraged enough to buy a bigger filter for my d70. Finally, I had my d70 converted to full-time IR by Lifepixel. This is the way to go, if you have an extra camera sitting around. I later sold the d70 and now use a 665nm converted Nikon d90. I'm still experimenting with post-processing techniques, but that's the fun of it. You can always go back to your original RAW file and try something new.
