Glad to hear you are back in AZ. To hold a 10" SCT you need a strong EQ mount, that's why they are pricey.

Hey George,
Finally bought another house in Mesa. Move in on the 31st of Oct. Still work in CA at Boeing so I will be commuting till I can get a transfer to Boeing Mesa. J,ust bought a 10 in LX50. For 800 bucks I figured it was a good deal to get back into astronomy before I spent mega bucks on a set up.

Any suggestions for replacing the stock mount? I saw an German Equatorial Mount, but it was rather pricey, but if that upgrade would work with the optics, then cool. Any will be looking to start trying astrophotography once I get back into the hang of things.

My website is ruttenbergphotography.com email is steve@kronuswarp.com. Give me a shout sometime, be nice to meet up for some stargazing.

Hi George: Just wanted to say I am enjoying all your pictures. You do a fantastic job and should have been a photographer instead of an engineer at Lycoming, Allied-Signal and Honeywell. Enjoy your retirement and the new camper. Fred & Carol

I love the 3D astro photos. Finally got them to go 3D by viewing the small images close up. One little problem...I think my eyes crossed too far. Can't get them un-crossed (kidding). The galaxy was in front of the foreground stars. My brain is backwards. I'll keep working on it. Thanks George!

Hi George,

I read your review of the AT66 on Cloudy Nights and saw the impressive images you took with it. Since I am new to AP, I hope you don't mind me asking for your advice.

I just bought a Celestron Advanced GoTo mount, a step up from the little EQ1 that I started out with. I love wide fields, and am considering buying a little Stellarvue SV66ED I saw on Astromart. Would you say the scope is entirely comparable to the AT66? I do own a 70-300mm Sigma zoom lens for my Nikon, so perhaps I should aim for a longer focal length... what would you recommend I buy to get a good start in this hobby? I was also considering a WO 0.8 reducer and field flattener.

Thanks so much,

Martin

Nice stuff George. Hey, how'd you get into the Reymert Mine area in 2009? We tried from US60 and it's gated and Private Property. Was there access still from the SW (Cottonwood Canyon/Ajax Mine Roads area? Or didja hike in? Thanks!

I read your recent article on Cloudy Nights being that i love wide field astro photography and ive been using a 400mm lens i got from Ebay for 40 $ im seriously considering the AT66

Hi George,

I read your recent article on Cloudy Nights regarding Astro-imaging with the Astro Tech 66mm refractor. I have almost the same set up, but use a C-11 instead. I've struggled with rings to hold the AT 66, but may use your idea of the camera adapter to support the scope.
What kind of spacers did you use to reach focus and where did you purchase them?
Also, it looks like you have a Meade DSI hooked up to your C 9.25. Is that for autoguiding? And is it hooked up to a diagonal or flip mirror?

Thanks for taking the time to write your article. I know quite a few owners of the AT 66 who read your article and we all feel it was very practical and well written.

in your old camera photo gallery, your first picture is of a Revere Model 88 8mm camera. My grandfather just gave me that camera and i'd like to shoot a revolutionary war re-enactment with it. My problems is my grandfather didn't give me any literature with it, so i don't know what specific type of film works in the camera. Do you remember what film I should use?

Very nice. I wish you would have time to take some pictures in Bilbao also, back in 2003, but we took all your free time, didn't we? Duane and JR looked really happy in Madrid
