Message from Jerry Pillarelli
Sports and action photography are my passion. Since getting involved with the Georgia Tech Athletic Department in 2006 I have had the opportunity to work Division I football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, tennis and track and field events for the Yellow Jackets. A few of the more notable events I’ve worked include the 2008 Chick-fil-A Bowl, the 2010 Orange Bowl, the 2009 ACC Basketball Tournament, the 2009 NCAA Regional Baseball and Softball Tournaments and the 2006 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships . Georgia Tech uses my work on their website and in their media guides and I’ve had images published in the Seattle Times and Tucson Citizen as well as in the ACC Sports Journal and The Buzz magazine. Most recently FOX Sports used several of my photographs on their 2010 Orange Bowl broadcast as part of a segment recapping the 2009 Georgia Tech football season.
I dabble in all sorts of photography. I enjoy traveling so landscape photography is a natural fit, particularly since my favorite mode of travel involves the car and the time honored “road trip”. I also step off of my sports track every now and again to shoot families, children or models. In all cases I find candid photography to be the most interesting and try to keep away from actually posing my subjects whenever possible.
Capturing the unscripted moments, more vivid and exciting than any posed photo can ever be… Photos detailing reality as it unfolds, a record of life as it is, unscripted!
