Love Peggy's gallery. It's so nice to see a rescue dog come out of her shell and turn into a fiesty, friendly dog. Greyhound in bluebells - my favourite

Amazing galleries.... You have a great eye for photography, and a unique sense of style. I have truly enjoyed going through your galleries - the range and variety of topics, the originality of viewpoint, and the quality. Well done, keep it up ! Greetings from Poland. Pawel

Hi, Catana. I can't email back as you didn't leave an address with the comment. I've never had success with dead-heading red-hot pokers even to encourage the later ones to grow. I don't think it's like a rose in that sense. There is however one variety 'Tetbury Torch' that will also bloom again in the autumn.

john i am growing red hot pokers and i am trying to find out if i cut the steams off to get them to rebloom please email me back and let me know thank u catana

Tena koe (greetings, in Maori).
Hey John, you visited Aussie, how come you didn't travel further and visit us in New Zealand?? I really enjoyed your galleries, except for the Blue Mountains. My comments in there are self-explanatory.

Thanks for taking a look at my photos Nigel and for the positive comments which do much to encourage the taking of photos. Our paths must have surely crossed, you might have seen my dog 'Angel' running around too, though she's older now and can't go on longer walks. - John.

John, you have some wonderful shots in your galleries. I particulary like the North Coast photos, although all the galleries have great shots. The Okehampton photos are of special interest - I'm sure our paths must have crossed a few times! I'll be revisiting some these places now that I've seen your take on them. Nigel

Thanks for visiting my East Quantoxhead Gallery - I was lucky with the weather today! Your Nanven gallery looks impressive - I will have to try and visit this location next time I'm in Cornwall.

Great images - I shall be signposting Duke of Edinburgh's Award participants undertaking Gold expeditions on the moor to view the images to show them what a fantastic photo record they can aspire to for their four day journey (mist and rain permitting!) I'll be back for more!

John,I love all the pictures on your site. I am a hobby photoist, and enjoy taking sports pictures of my children's events. I have recently purchased the Maxxum 5d, and need some help/advice on settings to use. I've tried it on auto and program mode, but shots are still a bit blurred. Any help would be appreciated. you can email me at bopeep@bellsouth.net. From the lovely state of Alabama in the USA, Paige

John, thanks for your kind words about my Groningen gallery. Your own galleries are really good advertisement for SW England, which is now high on my list of places-to-visit. Your 5D does a great job!

Thanks for visiting and your kind comments, Rich. If one picks a theme and then explores it with a camera plenty of opportunities start to show up. 'Rule of Thirds' grids and geometrical patterns only enhance a picture. Of course now we have all these extra megapixels we can be more creative in our cropping.

John, thanks for your response to my "information overload" posting, which lead me here. Wow! Frankly, I can't imagine that I will take pictures as artistically as yous...the composition of your work is truly fantistic.

Thanks for commenting on my selection of pictures. I hope you have a good time out there in Oz and I'll be looking forward to seeing some more memories here when you get back. I'd like to be able to visit the top end of the country one day too.

I enjoyed looking through your galleries. Devon & Cornwall I know very well - Okehampton, Exeter, Launceston, Woolacombe Bay (where I had holidays as a child!) Your pics of Australia sparked many happy memories too, of our trip there 2 years ago - Uluru, Kata Juta, Sidney, Blue Mountains... Very appropriate, as we fly out to Oz again on Thursday ! This time to explore the "top end". Look out for pics from my trip here in due course: http://www.pbase.com/romy_uk
